Stories for Life X Becoming Crew

2024 dates coming soon
A 3 month guided action learning adventure for story rebels
What if stories are powerful technologies?
Stories are coding that shape what we believe, what we choose, who we are – how we think, feel, know and act every day.
They shape our understanding of the world and the way we participate in it, so stories shape the world itself.
The stories we choose to live by every day weave the cultural narratives which inform the design of the human systems we create and how we organise ourselves on our home planet.
In the colonised, industrialised world, stories of our separation from nature - the more than human world, of separation from ourselves and from each other have shaped beliefs, behaviors, structures and ways of knowing that are extractive, exploitative, oppressive, binary and violent.
These stories are perpetuating the destruction and breakdown of our living earth, deteriorating human and more than human health and dividing us from our diversity.
We need our stories to help grow diverse life-sustaining cultures.
Stories that help us remember where we come from.
Stories that help us imagine what could be.
Stories of endings and letting go.
Stories of becoming.
Stories that remix ancient and modern knowing.
Stories of our entanglement with the great mystery of life.
Stories for life.
How might we begin to do this with attention, intention, courage, artistry and humility?
Who’s it for and what will we do?
The Remix is for anyone working with story in any form or discipline.
You might be a writer, designer, film-maker, photographer, journalist, artist, activist, strategist, campaigner, technologist, producer, researcher, commercial creative, educator, facilitator, space holder or none of these.
We will focus on exploring the power of stories in these times, and not in a shiny, universal, human-centered way.
This is an invitation into a deep creative inquiry into re-entangling ourselves back into the world we have not made.
Exploring the complexity, intelligence, interconnectedness and mystery of life on this earth and how that might shape and inform your practice, projects and missions.
We will focus on exploring the power of stories in these times, and not in a shiny, universal, human-centered way.

Lankelly Chase bursary spots
We're working with Lankelly Chase to offer 10 supported spaces at the Remix. These spaces are for people subject to marginalisation because of systems of oppression. Apply below or book a call with one of the guides to find out more.
This adventure follows the becoming crew experiential (un)learning methodology and convenes around Stories for Life - an offering for storytellers, carriers and shapers seeking to step more intentionally into service to life in these mysterious times.
Stories for Life weaves the work, thinking and ideas of many humans, ancient and modern.
It invites our attention to two key stories in our modern industrial cultural narratives: the story of our relationship with nature and the story of how we measure success.
The project emerged from an open inquiry into the role of stories in helping shape life-sustaining economic systems.
Kickstarted by The Spaceship Earth, Green Economy Coalition and The Wellbeing Economy Alliance.
Stories for Life was featured on the big screens at Glastonbury Festival 2022.
